What are AP calculus classes?
AP calculus classes are instruction for College Board AP Calculus AB, AP Calculus BC, and AP Precalculus.
The College Board, a not-for-profit based in New York City, has administered Advanced Placement since 1955. AP Calculus AB covers limits, derivatives, and integrals and is treated as one semester of college calculus. AP Calculus BC covers the AB syllabus plus series, parametric equations, polar coordinates, and additional integration, and is treated as two semesters.
AP Precalculus is a separate Advanced Placement course, first examined in May 2024. It is not a calculus course. It covers polynomial, rational, exponential, logarithmic, trigonometric, and polar functions. Unit 4 of AP Precalculus (parameters, vectors, and matrices) is not tested on the AP Precalculus exam.

How do SATPrepIn AP calculus classes work?
SATPrepIn AP calculus classes are live online sessions. An AP calculus tutor works from the current Course and Examination Description. Class time is used on College Board MCQs and FRQs from past years, mapped to the units on that exam.

What is the difference between AP Calculus AB, BC, and Precalculus?
AP Calculus AB is first-semester college calculus. AP Calculus BC is first- and second-semester college calculus. AP Precalculus is the functions course taken before calculus. A student sits one exam per course. College Board schedules AB and BC at the same clock time, so both exams cannot be taken in the same administration. The BC score report includes an AB subscore.

What is the AP Calculus exam format?
The AP Calculus AB exam and the AP Calculus BC exam use the same clock and the same question counts. Each exam is 3 hours 10 minutes plus a scheduled break. Both are hybrid digital exams: multiple-choice in Bluebook, free-response handwritten in the booklet.

From the 2026-27 school year, College Board reduces the multiple-choice count from 45 to 42 for May 2027 exams. The SATPrepIn class uses released College Board MCQs and FRQs under the current CED.
What AP Calculus scores do SATPrepIn students record?
SATPrepIn AP calculus classes have a record of scores of 4 and 5 on AP Calculus AB and AP Calculus BC.
College Board scores AP exams on a 1 to 5 scale. 5 is Extremely well qualified. 4 is Well qualified. 3 is Qualified. For context, the 2025 global share of scores 3 or higher was 64.2 percent on AP Calculus AB and 78.6 percent on AP Calculus BC. Most colleges that grant credit require a 3 or a 4. The rule is set by the college.
Who should take SATPrepIn AP calculus classes?
These classes are for high school students who will sit AP Calculus AB, AP Calculus BC, or AP Precalculus. Typical students are in a US-curriculum school, an international school sitting AP as an external exam, or a student adding AP next to IB, A-Levels, or a national board. An AP tutor is assigned after the trial.

AP exams in India are given at College Board-authorized schools and centers. Registration is through the school AP coordinator or an authorized center.
